Plan your night moves on the island with this list of Bajan hot spots! ... more

In the evening after sundown, we all like a bit of fun with our food. That’s the time to head for one of the restaurants, pubs, bistros or wine bars serving up a healthy portion of entertainment!

Plantation Tropical Spectacular provides a whirlwind of dance and energy. This cabaret dinner show is held at the Plantation Restaurant and Garden Theatre on select evenings. Featured in the carnival are the fire eaters, limbo dancers, and steel band, reggae and calypso music performed by local bands.

Many island hotspots are open until the wee hours.Nightly jazz lures diners to the Waterfront Café with a menu featuring nouvelle presentations of Bajan favourites like the shredded codfish “buljol” and flying fish roe “melts.”

The Boatyard transforms itself daily from a daytime bistro and yachtsmen’s hangout to a nighttime meeting place for visitors and locals to enjoy music and merriment.

After dinner, take to the clubs for jazz, soca and calypso music. Head for the Coach House at Paynes Bay, St. James or try After Dark in St. Lawrence Gap. Reggae, ringbang and soca music can be enjoyed at the Harbour Lights, Bay Street. If you prefer a pub atmosphere, try the Ship Inn in St. Lawrence Gap or The Boatyard on Bay Street. Enjoy live music at many island hotels, or join in the fun with karaoke at the new Carib Beach Bar (Worthing, Christ Church).

AFTER HOURS

When the party’s over and you still wish to revel by moonlight, try Baxters Road, known as the “street that never sleeps.” By day just another busy Bridgetown street, Baxters Road is transformed nightly by the rhythms of calypso, as street vendors bring out coal pots and roast fish and chicken treats before your eyes. Barbados rum cocktails, Banks beer, other spirited island refreshments and street performers make the downtown experience complete.
